<note>This thesis analyzes the types and functions of figurative language in the lyrics ofTaylor Swift album Lover available on Spotify. Figurative language is a style oflanguage that is not conveyed directly, but rather through beautiful and meaningfulways to reinforce messages and convey feelings more emotionally. This researchidentifies various types of figurative language, including allegory, apostrophe, simile, metaphor, personification, symbolism, metonymy, onomatopoeia, patheticfallacy, and oxymoron. which are used not only to enrich the poetic quality of thelyrics but also to convey deeper meanings. Using Rozakis' theoretical framework, this research found that the most frequently seen type of figurative language ismetaphor, with six data points analyzed in Chapter IV. The most dominant functionof figurative language in the album Lover is to add emotional intensity, with sevendata points discussed in Chapter IV. Other functions of figurative languageobserved are to create clear imagery, make abstract ideas more concrete, andemphasize important ideas. This study concludes that figurative language servesnot only as a decoration but also as a powerful means of communication insongwriting. Taylor Swift album Lover demonstrates how poetic language can addmeaning and strengthen emotional connections in popular music.
