This research investigates the use of figures of speech in Right Place, WrongPerson, a solo album by RM. The study aims to identify and analyze the types andfunctions of figures of speech used in the lyrics. Employing descriptive qualitativeapproach, this research applies the theoretical frameworks of Holman and Leech toclassify and interpret the figures of speech found throughout the album. Theanalysis reveals the presence of various figures of speech, including metaphor, simile, metonymy, symbolism, hyperbole, rhetorical question, apostrophe, onomatopoeia, paradox, synecdoche, personification, image, and alliteration. Theseelements are used not only to enrich the aesthetic quality of the lyrics but also toserves to specific communicative functions, such as clarifying meaning, providingvivid image, emphasize ideas, stimulating association and emotion, giving life toinanimate object and abstract concept, amusing and ornamenting the expression, and widening as well as deepening the listener’s perspective. The study concludesthat RM’s use of figures of speech significantly enhance both the poetic andemotional resonance of the album.
