<note>This research aims to: 1) analyze the role of superegoin the moral conflicts experienced by the characters Agatha andSophie in the film The School for Good and Evil (2022), and2) explain how the influence of superego domination on themoral choices of each character has an impact on the storyline. This research is motivated by the importance of understandingthe dynamics of personality conflict in popular literaturethrough Freud's psychoanalytic approach, especially the theoryof id, ego, and superego. This research uses descriptive qualitative method withthe main data in the form of relevant scenes, dialogs, andnarratives in the film The School for Good and Evil (2022)directed by Paul Feig. Data collection techniques includewatching the film in depth, reading transcripts, identifyingscenes, classifying data according to Freud's psychoanalyticframework, and analyzing them through the stages ofreduction, presentation, and conclusion. The results showed that: 1) Agatha's character tends tohave a dominant superego so that she can maintain her moralvalues despite facing pressure from the magical environment atthe School for Evil; 2) Sophie experiences more complexinternal conflicts due to the dominance of id and ego that oftenconflict with her superego, causing psychological tension andinfluencing her decision to switch from School for Good toSchool for Evil. This finding shows that the superego plays animportant role in shaping the moral conflict of the character, aswell as being the main driver of the development of thestoryline. This research is expected to be a reference for furtherresearch that wants to examine the moral conflict of charactersthrough Freud's psychoanalytic theory, as well as contribute tothe study of literature and film from the perspective of literarypsychology.
