    MARRIAGE AND CLASS STRUGGLE REFLECTED IN “TULIP FEVER” (2017) FILM BY JUSTIN CHADWICK

    This research aims to analyze how marriage and class struggle inAmsterdam society during the 17th century are reflected in Justin Chadwick’s2017 film Tulip Fever. Using Karl Marx's theory of class conflict, this studyfocuses on how marriage is portrayed not as a romantic choice but as a strategicact influenced by social and economic pressure. The analysis highlights thecontrast between the bourgeois class, represented by Cornelis Sandvoort, and thelower class, represented by Sophia and Jan Van Loos.This research uses a descriptive qualitative method to analyze the filmTulip Fever (2017) directed by Justin Chadwick as the object of research. Thedata collected from scenes, dialogues, and narrative events in the film. Supporting data is taken from books, journals, and articles related to Marxisttheory and the Dutch socio-economic context. The result of this research shows that: 1) marriage in the film functionsas a tool for survival and social mobility, especially for women. Sophia’smarriage to Cornelis is shaped by economic necessity, while her affair with Janreflects resistance to the oppressive structures of class, 2) the film shows howcapitalism influences personal relationships and reinforces class division.
