This study aims to improve students’ vocabulary through the useof audio-lingual method by using WordUp application at MA AlFatahGondang in the eleventh grade. The data were collectedusing a mixed-method approach, including interviews and tests. This study uses an intact-group comparison design where theresearcher divides the eleventh grade into two groups, namely theexperimental group and the control group. In its application, theexperimental group uses the audio-lingual method by usingWordUp application while the control group uses other methodsand is carried out in one cycle, namely pre-test, treatment, andpost-test. The results of the study show that the use of the audiolingualmethod by using WordUp application can improvestudents’ vocabulary. The audio feature makes students aware thattheir pronunciation is still lacking and the example sentences ineach word help students understand vocabulary according tocontext. This is able to foster students’ motivation and confidenceto continue learning vocabulary. The students’ vocabulary hasincreased, as shown by test scores from pre-test to post-test. The refore, the audio-lingual method by using WordUp applicationare considered effective in improving students’ vocabulary andfostering motivation to learn English.
