Adis Triawan, 2025 A Critical Analysis Of Teaching English Speaking SkillsToward TheStudents At Pondok Pesantren Tahfidzul Qur’an NashoihulQulub Faculty of Language and Literature, Universitas Sains Al Qur’an.This study aims to critically analyze the development of English language skillsamong students at the Pondok Pesantre Tahfidzul Qur’an Nashoihl Qulub. Theresearch will focus on the influence of English teachers, the effectiveness ofcommunicative teaching methods, and the impact of student motivation. Thisresearch utilizes the critical thinking framework developed by Paul and Elder,whichplacestheseelements as interconnected factors in shaping students' speakingperformance. The research employed a qualitative methodology, utilizing a casestudy approach for data collection. This involved interviews, participatoryobservation, and documentation review. The study involved 23 students, 2 teachers, and 1 caregiver. The findings show that the presence of English teachers has asignificant positive impact on students' speaking ability, provided they receiveconsistent feedback and interaction. Although communicative methods have beenproven to improve learning, the use of these methods has not been optimal. Add itionally, research has demonstrated that both intrinsic and extrinsic motivationplay a role in enhancing students' confidence in speaking English. It is concludedthat increasing teacher engagement, applying communicative methods effectively, and fostering student motivation are essential for the development of Englishspeakingskillsinapesantrencontext.
