This thesis analyzes the (1) depiction of the Osage Tribe's life and (2) culturalconflict in Martin Scorsese's "Killers of the Flower Moon" (2023). Using a culturalstudies approach and theories about Native American tribes, this research exploreshow the film (1) depicts the human values, kinship system, characteristics, andphysical appearance of the Osage Tribe in the 1920s. It also analyzes the (2) culturalconflicts reflected in the film, including greed and corruption, discriminationagainst the Osage Tribe, and loss of tribal identity. Through qualitative analysis ofdialog and scenes in the film, this research provides an in-depth understanding ofthe social and cultural dynamics of the Osage Tribe at the time of the discovery ofoil on their land, as well as its impact on the identity and survival of theircommunity amidst the pressures of assimilation and exploitation by white society.
