The cultural and social changes taking place in contemporary society have broughtabout significant changes in the way women are represented in the media. Genderaffects how language is used, both in terms of word choice and the socialconventions that govern it. Women's language features refer to language featuresemployed by women in stereotypical societies. The objective of this research wasto find out what features and functions of women's language were used by Solénein The Idea of You movie. This study used a descriptive qualitative method toanalyze the data and describe the results. The data source was collected from TheIdea of You English subtitles. The researcher collected data through steps bysearching the movie and watching The Idea of You movie; listening and reading thesentences or conversations that contain women's language features in moviesubtitles; and identifying and marking out the words that contain women's languagefeatures in data. The researcher analyzed the data by identifying and categorisingthe women's language features in The Idea of You movie.The results showed thatnot all types of women's language features were used by Soléne in the movie. Therewere a total of 61 utterances from 9 types of women's language features found inThe Idea of You: 20 lexical hedges or fillers, 6 tag questions, 3 rising intonations, 4empty adjectives, 10 intensifiers, 13 superpolite forms, 2 hypercorrect grammar,and one empathic stress. Best on the number of dominant types of women'slanguage used in The Idea of you movie, lexical hedges or fillers were selected. Thetypes of language functions used in The Idea of You were: 19 to express uncertainty,7 to get a response, 20 to soften the utterances, 4 to start a discussion, 10 to expressfeeling or opinion, and 15 to emphasize utterances.
