This research is conducted to analyze the similarity and difference betweenhistorical account of Alexander the Great and anime Fate/Zero (2016) using LindaHutcheon adaptation theory. There are two problem formulations that the researcheruses in this study, the first is how does Fate/Zero depict Iskandar's personality andmotivations compared to Alexander the Great's historical records? Second, howdoes Fate/Zero depict Iskandar's physical appearance compared to Alexander theGreat's historical records? The researcher uses a qualitative method in answeringthe problem formulations. The theories and approaches used in this study areadaptation theory and comparative study. This research includes data collectionprocedures and data analysis procedures. This study’s results show that theportrayal of Iskandar in the anime series Fate/Zero aligns with and diverges fromhistorical records of Alexander the Great in significant ways.
