<note>In learning speaking, teachers often find students who are unfocused,lack self-confidence, have difficulty following instructions, easily feelbored and often play their cellphones, and show dislike during learning.This shows that student motivation is very low and requiresimprovement. In this research, researcher combined ice breaking withball pit and created a method called IBC-Bit with the hope that thismethod could improve students’ speaking motivation. This research useda classroom action research (CAR) design with a mixed methodsapproach. The research consists of two cycles, and each cycle consists offour stages, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. Thesamples taken were eleven marketing 2 at SMK Muhammadiyah 1Wonosobo. The instruments used in the research were an observationchecklist, a questionnaire, and a speaking test. The research results showthat the IBC-Bit method can improve students’ speaking motivationbased on observation checklist data, increasing from 60% to 70% and incycle 2 to 86%. The speaking test data increased from 71,09 to 75,19,and in cycle 2, it increased to 81,47. The increase in questionnaire datacan be seen from the increase in the number of students who answeredagree and strongly agree with each statement given. Which showsimprovements in student motivation, student behavior, and studentspeaking abilities. From the results of the data above, it can be concludedthat implementing the IBC-Bit method can improve students’ speakingmotivation.
