<note>English is a language that everyone should be able to master since it is crucialin this era of globalization. In junior high school, English is a compulsorycourse, many students are not interested in learning English especially inwriting. When learning English is easier for the student to understand Studentswill enjoy more. Project Based Learning is a method that allows students tolearn English in an enjoyable way. It will develop students' capacity foractivity, productivity, and teamwork. By developing a project, the studentsdemonstrate that the students are not just intelligent but also sociable. Thisresearch also aims to improve students' writing skills so students be able towrite texts in English. This research used Classroom Action Research (CAR)as a research method, involving the writer and English teacher at SMP Negeri1 Garung. The Kurt Lewin’s Classroom Action Research design adapted in thisresearch it consists 2 cycles each cycle includes; Planning, Acting, Observingand Reflecting, with data collected through interviews, field notes,questionnaires, and tests. The result of this Classroom Action Research showedthat pre-test the mean score was 66.18 before student implementing ProjectBased Learning to improve students’ writing skills. Then the first post-test infirst cycle showed the mean score was 71.96, In the second post-test in secondcycle the mean score was 79.28. It concluded that 28 students who passed thepassing grade (KKM) 73. The data can be concluded that Project BasedLearning could improve students’ writing skills.ix
