The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of using the “Tanam Petik Kata” game method to develop students' vocabulary skill. “Tanam Petik Kata” games are learning media that can make learning English, especially vocabulary learning easier. The problem in this study is whether this “Tanam Petik Kata” game media can be an effective medium in developing students' vocabulary skill at SMP N 1 KEJAJAR. The research method used in this study is quantitative. The type of this research is experimental Research. Pre-test in class before using the "Tanam Petik Kata" game media in learning, then do post-test or exams after using the “Tanam Petik Kata” game media. The data obtained was be compared with classes that do not use “Tanam Petik Kata” game media to then find out whether the “Tanam Petik Kata” game media can be an effective medium in developing students' vocabulary skill. The sample used in this research was 40 students, with 20 students each for class 8A and 20 students for class 8C SMP N 1 Kejajar. Written assessment is the main instrument used in this study. Through a written assessment, the results of the tests (pre-test and post-test) for the control group and the experimental group were obtained. After doing the posttest, as additional data, the researcher gave 10 questions in the form of a questionnaire relating to students' opinions about the "Tanam Petik Kata" game. The scores obtained were then analyzed and processed with SPSS. The statistical method used is parametric analysis, by testing the hypothesis of the Independent Sample tTest. The results of this study are shown by the results of the Normalized Gain test with a score for the experimental class (Tanam Petik Kata) of 56.126 or 56% included in the fairly effective category. These results indicate that there are differences between students' vocabulary learning by using the "Tanam Petik Kata" game and using conventional method.
