This study is aimed to analyze : (1) cohesion type in the book enttiled AcademicWriting : A Handbook for International Students (Second Edition) that written byStephen Bailey, (2) coherence type in the book enttiled Academic Writing : AHandbook for International Students (Second Edition) that written by StephenBailey.The study uses qualitative method to analyze the book entitled Academic Writing :A Handbook for International Students (Second Edition) written by Stephen Baileyas the objective research. The collecting data of the research method includesreading and understanding, finding out, collecting, identifying, and classifying andarranging. The analyzing data of the research method by used displaying,explaining, interpreting, and concluding. The researcher analyzes the data by usingcohesion and coherence.The result of the study: (1) cohesion type; a) grammatical cohesion; b) lexicalcohesion. (2) coherence type; a) resemblence relations; b) cause-effect relations; c)contiguity relations.
