XML

The results of the students' English proficiency tests whichwere still below average, especially in the field of writing descriptivetexts, became the impetus for this research. The aim is to ascertainwhether the use of poster media in making descriptive prose iseffective. The researcher formulates the problem, "How to improvestudents' writing descriptive text skills after using poster media?"based on the above objectives. Researchers used a quantitativeresearch strategy with an experimental method by utilizing a pretestposttestcontroldesigntoanswertheproblemformulation. 50 classVII students of VIP Al-Huda Middle School which were dividedbetween the experimental class and the control class were used asresearch subjects. While learning in the control class did not involveany media, learning in the experimental class did not. After studyingAfter learning is complete, a final test is carried out in the form ofwritten questions. Then the test results were analyzed and comparedusing the gain test and t test to determine the increase and differencein writing skills between the two classes. Furthermore, data sourceswere obtained using interviews, observation, documentation, andtests. The results of the study using the ttest and gain test showed thatthe results of the hypothesis test obtained tcount of 8.79, then tcount wascompared to ttable with dk = 25+25-2 = 48 and an error level of 5%,then ttable = 2.01. From these results, it was obtained that tcount wasgreater than ttable (8.79 > 2.01), and the gain test results for theexperimental class were 0.718 and the control class were 0.410. So itcan be concluded that students' writing skills using poster media arebetter than classes that do not use media. So that the use of postermedia in learning to write descriptive text is considered effective.
